I dislike the phrase 'tuck shop.'

It implies people buy 'tuck.'

'tuck' is an old slang word from the early twentieth century, particularly among school boys, it means general trinkets and/or food. schoolboys trunks that they'd have in their dorms were called 'tuck boxes'. so people did used to buy 'tuck', and the phrase has been carried on.

oddities in language like this always make sense even when they seem very odd.
